This Year's Model Updates:

The Monte Carlo receives only minor changes for the 2003 model year. The base LS model has been upgraded with standard four-wheel disc brakes, traction control and remote keyless entry. Both the LS and SS models sport newly styled wheels, four new exterior colors and the option of adding XM Satellite Radio.

Pros:
  • Spacious interior, low sticker price, strong V6 in SS models.
Cons:
  • Mediocre performance, bland interior with cheap materials, no passenger side-impact airbag.

  • Differences between 1999 and 2002 - 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Compared to the 1999 Monte Carlo the new design 2002 drives like a barge. This design is harder to steer and the cruise control looses up to 5 miles per hours attempting to maintian the current speed. The whole car seems to be under powered.

I love this car. My wife likes it but is having seperation anxiety from the Tahoe we turned in. She feels like its to small now. LOL. Overall though we love it. Once she gets used to it I plan on spending many nights on the beach staring at the stars through the awesome sun roof. AAAAAAAAAAA++++++++++++

  • 80,000 mile lemon - 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

I purchased this car new and have had decent service up to this point. Im have just started hearing a slight noise in the engine this week and its getting worse, I took it into the shop and was informed that the lifters and camshaft would need to be replaced. This would cost me $2,500,00. Im checking around for better pricing but it seems this car is no longer drivable until this major repair is made. I just fill I should have been able to get more than 80,000 miles from this 2003 Monte Carlo. Needless to say I will not be walking onto a Chevrolet lot anymore. Its looking like I have been pushed to the superior foreign market. It just makes sense. C-Ya Chevys!!!!

We werent really that serious to trade,....but we spent five years in our Honda CR-V EX, and had our belly full of our little under powered "sport cute". This good looking Yankee made it a MUST GET. What a car / What a deal! The U.S. auto mfgs. are eager to put you behind the wheel. THERE IS ABSOLUTLY NO COMPARISON TO OUR 03 RED MONTE SS.........WOW WHAT A CAR! Ours is loaded ( heated leather seats, "OnStar", moon roof, & power everything ) and that 3.8L 200 hp V six........Knarley dude! Some words to the wise, "SEE THE USA IN A CHEVROLET !"

  • Good but could be great - 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

After spending a month with the car, I am beginning to really like the car. For everyday commuting it is very comfortable and gets very good gas mileage. What it isnt is a performance beast that makes me want to take it out for the hell of it and just cruise around. For a SS moniker car I expect it to outperform the average sedan from Japan. Sadly, it just does not cut it under the hood.

I have not had one problem since I bought the car. I was however in a real bad accident with it and it was amazing how well the car handled the impact. Im very impressed with this car.

So far I have nothing but good things to say about this car. Its great and lots of fun to drive. The first time I seen a yellow one, I had to have one. But had to wait till my lease expired on my current vehicle, but that day finally came and I now am the proud owner of a YELLOW Monte!!!

The Chevrolet Monte Carlo is very nice. From its sporty body style to its interior. Its 16 inch wheel base makes this car handle very well. This car has some excellent safety features. It gets very good gas mileage.

  • Nice Looking Monte SS but...Theres room for Improvement - 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
    By -

Bought my 03 Monte Carlo SS used in August 2010 with 113K miles. One owner car before I acquired it. Never been hit or wrecked. Was well maintained. A/C wasnt working when I got it so I had to replace the A/C compressor right away due to leaky seals. Less than a month after purchase goes by, engine went bad at 114K miles. It needed a complete rebuild due to a gasket leak allowing the fluid to run into the cylinders & caused a rod to go bad. A couple of interior buttons & dash lights are blown. The fan speed dial does not work on 1 at times but works on 2-5 with no issues. The body has a tiny wee bit of rust on it. Mostly on the fuel door(outside) and the doors (inside).
